Quotable Friday {10}: Life Lessons from Paterno

So I’ve been slowly working my way through the book Paterno by Joe Posnanski.  It’s been very interesting, I’ve learned a lot about not only Paterno but Penn State and Penn State football in general.  Unfortunately non-fiction tends to not grab at me like fiction does, so even though I’m enjoying it, it’s taking a while to read.  Still, I thought that I’d share with you one of many great pieces of life advice from the late Joe Paterno.

“But Paterno was always careful to say that success and excellence are two different things and not always intertwined.  Success is nice, he would say.  Excellence, though, is life-affirming.”

Joe Posnanski, Paterno

Not sure I’d choose to read the book but I like the distinction between success and excellence. My Friday books quotes are here:

I'd love to know what you think!
