Bout of Books 10 – Thursday

Bout of Books

Well, B.O.B. is nearing the homestretch now.  I haven’t gotten as much reading done as I wanted to, though I’m pretty sure I know what I can blame that on.  The fiance started his new job this week, and well… he’s wanted to talk about it.  Sigh.  lol  I’m one of those people that doesn’t discuss work much unless something upsets me or excites me.  He likes to give a rundown of his day.  Which is fine, usually.  Oh well, I’m still reading more every evening than usual, so I’ll take it as a win.

I also made a big mistake this week that has sort of blew my original goals out of the water.  I’m one of those people that enjoys a smut-esque kind of book from time to time.  B&N has been bugging me to use up my Nook Settlement money (I got rid of that thing ages ago, but I do use the app on occasion), so I went to looking around.  I realized they had several smut trilogies/series for dirt cheap, so I snatched up a few to keep me entertained from time to time (and no one knows what I’m looking at on my phone, te he).  Well I started one on Wednesday because I was bored and wasn’t feeling Shopaholic, and now yesterday I wanted to keep reading it!  These books are SO not on my TBR list, and the whole point of participating in Bout of Books was to work on that list.  Oh well.

I did make some progress in Doctor Sleep, and I’m now at that great part of Stephen King books where he’s done with the world building and background story and crazy things are happening 🙂

I’ve found I enjoy the event a lot more when I’m reading books I’m excited about reading rather than books I just want to get off my TBR. If those books weren’t on your original list, who cares?

I think the whole point of BOB, for me, is to get back into the swing of daily reading. So much can distract me, and readathons like this one really help me remember how fun reading is. I think you’re doing awesome – can’t wait to see how you like the King book!
